Land Records Search

You are welcome to search the land records in our office at 701 Main Street, St. Joseph MI during regular County hours or you can search via the internet at: regofdeeds.berriencounty.org.

Whether in our office or via the internet, indices are available for free, printing any document page is $1.00 per page. In addition to the per page print fee there is a $5.00 credit card/IT handling fee when printing a document page from the internet.

The Register of Deeds’ office launched a very aggressive back-indexing program and has computerized all of the Miscellaneous books.  In addition, we continue to back-index the Deed books.  Images and indexes exist for all Miscellaneous books back through the 1800s, Deed book indexes and images are available from 1940 forward and indexes and images for all other records, mortgages, discharge of mortgages, assignment of mortgages, etc., exist from 1967 forward and are available via computer.

If you wish to search via the internet from a location outside the Register of Deeds’ office, after accessing the site, click on "Login as Guest" and then "Search Public Records."  Click on "How do I..."or "Search Guide" for information on how to search if you have any questions. Images will initially appear with a black block across the image but the image will print cleanly when payment verification is received.

If you have questions after consulting the "how to" options, please call the Helpline at 888-608-1808 (7 a.m. to 7 p.m. CST Monday through Friday) or the Register of Deeds office, 269-983-7111 X8562 (regular County hours of operation), and they will be happy to walk you through the site.
