Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers provide important services for their community.  Whatever your interest, Berrien County has a wide-range of volunteer opportunities available throughout the County.

Do you love animals?
Consider volunteering at the Animal Control Department in Berrien Center.  Volunteers are needed to:

• walk dogs
• care for cats
• feed animals
• general office work
• greet visitors
• participate at special events

Are you a "people person"?
Volunteer at the Courthouse in St. Joseph to greet the public and provide assistance and directions throughout the building.  If interested, contact  the Volunteer Center of SW Michigan.

Volunteer at the Self Help Legal Resource Center assisting patrons with procedural steps involved in filing court documents.  Contact Dee Kuelbs at 269-983-7111 Ext. 8790.

Do you enjoy driving?
Our Veterans Services Department is in need of volunteers to drive our local veterans to Battle Creek VA Medical Center.  For more information, contact Lee Lull at 269-983-7111 Ext.  8118.

Do you have a background in law enforcement?
Our Sheriff's Office relies on a trained volunteer staff to assist with various operations:

• Reserve Deputies
• Mounted Division
• Chaplain's Unit
• Victim Services Advocates
