Q: Where can I apply for a Concealed Pistol License?

You can apply for a CPL permit at the Berrien County Clerk’s Office at 701 Main Street in St. Joseph or at the Niles South County Building at 1205 N. Front Street in Niles.  The CPL applications can be obtained at both locations and online by going to www.michigan.gov/documents/ri--012_7736_7.pdf .

Q: How old do you need to be to apply for a CPL permit?

Currently, an applicant must be 21 years of age to apply.

Q: What do I need for identification?

You will need a current Michigan Driver’s License or State I.D. with a Berrien County address

Q: How long does it take to get a Concealed Pistol License?

If you are a first time applicant, it can take up to 45 days for the permit to be approved and mailed to you.  If it is a renewal, it can take up to 30 days for the permit to be approved and mailed to you.

Q: Is a training certificate required?

Yes, it is if you are a first time applicant and the training must be done through an approved Michigan NRA training course.

Q: How much does a CPL cost?

The fee is $100.00 for a first time applicant and $115.00 for a renewal.  All fees are non-refundable.
