TO THE HONORABLE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF BERRIEN COUNTY: Your County Personnel and Human Services Committee respectfully recommends the adoption of the following:
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) has a Comprehensive Agreement (CPBC) for Fiscal Year 2011/12 with the Berrien County Health Department (BCHD)(approved under Resolution P1112226), and
WHEREAS, as part of the services arising from the CPBC, the BCHD works to reduce health disparities, particularly among racial minorities, and
WHEREAS, the MDCH’s Health Disparities Reduction and Minority Health Section has awarded BCHD a grant in the amount of $7,500 to conduct Minority Health Month activities during the time period between May 1, 2012 – September 30, 2012, and
WHEREAS, the BCHD will use the funding to work with youth participants in the First Chance program to conduct a PhotoVoice project highlighting conditions affecting obesity in Benton Harbor, an
WHEREAS,the Board of Health endorses the acceptance of this funding agreement at no cost to the County, pending the approval of Corporate Counsel,
IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that the Berrien County Board of Commissioners authorize and direct BCHD’s Health Officer/Director Michael A. Mortimore to electronically sign or execute the agreement for this funding as part of a future amendment of the CPBC – FY 2011/12, as prescribed by the MDCH.
