  • Spring Fling Medical Clean - Triad Collection: accepts old and expired medications. The 2009 Collection is on March 23-27 at any Senior Center in Berrien County. The collection will also take place at the Senior Expo Triad Booth at the Mendel Center in May. Contact the local Senior Center or the Sheriff’s Department at 983-7141 ext 7221 for details.
  • County Household Hazardous Waste Collections accepts pills, liquid meds, and needles or syringes. Materials must be properly contained to ensure public and personal safety and environmental health. Click here for a list of Household Hazardous Waste Collection dates and locations.
  • Health Care Provider: check with your health care provider for other available collection options.


Home medical waste is not regulated under the MI Medical Waste Management Act, therefore common sense and caution should guide individuals in the safe disposal of home medical waste. Do not flush medical waste. Needles or sharps, old prescription medicine, etc can be disposed of properly using the methods listed above.
