Mercury Items
 

Mercury Containing Items: thermometers, thermostats, etc.

When transporting a mercury thermomter or thermostat to any of the following drop-off locations, you must place it in a zip-lockable baggie, seal it, and then place that inside another zip-lockable baggie, and seal it. If you need bags, call 983-7111 ext. 8234.
  • Household Hazardous Waste Collections: accepts mercury fever thermometers, household thermostats that contain mercury, and elemental mercury that is properly contained in an unbreakable container. Click here for a list of Household Hazardous Waste Collection dates and locations.
    ***Exchange your home mercury fever thermometer for a digital one at a County sponsored Household Hazardous Waste Collection.
  • Berrien County Environmental Health Department: 2106 M-139, Benton Harbor. 927-5623. Can drop off mercury fever thermometers 8:30am-4:30pm Monday-Friday. MUST BE PROPERLY BAGGED!
