Used Motor Oil

Used motor oil contains heavy metals and hydrocarbons like benzene. Used oil does not belong in the trash nor should it be dumped on the ground because it may cause contamination to the soil and groundwater.

Many of these places will accept used oil filters, as well. Inquire at each location.

  • August Pohl Auto Wreckers: 2670 Territorial Rd, Benton Harbor. 925-3800.
  • Autozone Stores: 1582 Hilltop Rd., St. Joseph; 1681 Hwy M-139, Benton Harbor; 9099 US 31-33, Berrien Springs; 56215 M-51 South, Dowagiac; 702 S. 11th St.,Niles. Accepts: used oil, maximum 5 gallons. No mixtures.
  • Baroda Tire Center: 1638 Lemon Creek Rd., Baroda. 422-1154. Accepts oil, antifreeze, auto batteries, and oil filters.
  • Bob Cooper Chevrolet, Inc.: 8716 US 31, Berrien Springs. 473-4651. Accepts used oil, please contact Service Manager M-F 8-5pm.

  • Dave’s Garage: 713 N 13th St., Niles. 683-7220.
  • Household Hazardous Waste Collections: used motor oil is accepted at the county sponsored collections. The first 10 gallons are free per participant, $0.50/gallon after 10 gallons. Click here for a list of Household Hazardous Waste Collection dates and locations.

Used Cooking Oil
