Construction Notice

WASHINGTON AVENUE ROAD WORK CONTINUES
 WITH ROAD CLOSED TO ALL THRU TRAFFIC

 

TOWNSHIP: St Joseph Township

 

LOCATION: Washington Avenue, from Hilltop Road to Maiden Lane

 

CLOSEST CITIES: St Joseph, Benton Harbor, Stevensville

 

RESUMED WORK AND ROAD CLOSURE STARTING: 7:00am on Monday, September 27, 2021

Residents with properties or those traveling to/from school located on Washington Avenue between Hilltop Road and Maiden Lane will be permitted through the work zone, as long as vehicles are operated with due regard to channeling devices and remain aware of fresh cement present around manhole structures.


END DATE: Friday, October 1, 2021

 

PROJECT: Washington Avenue from Hilltop Road to Maiden Lane will be receiving a 2” HMA Overlay. Contractor will be completing manhole adjustments the week of 9/27/2021. 


 
TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS: Washington Avenue will be closed to all thru traffic between Hilltop Road and Maiden Lane to complete remaining construction activities. Structures will be adjusted and road left closed to thru traffic to allow for cement to fully cure until Wednesday, 9/29/2021 (work and weather permitting).  Local traffic can proceed through with extreme caution to workers and wet cement. Local traffic allowed are those accessing properties located on Washington Avenue between Hilltop Road and Maiden Lane or for school access. All other traffic is required to seek alternative routes or utilize the detour route.

 

DETOUR ROUTE: Glenlord Road to Cleveland Avenue to Hilltop Road
 

  • Recommended to seek alternative routes or expect travel delays.
  • Remember to reduce speeds when traveling through work zones. 
  • Watch out for construction workers and equipment.
